Beijing Institute of Technology was founded in 1940 in Yan'an and is the first science and engineering university established by the Communist Party of China. It has been a key construction university in various batches since the founding of New China, and was among the first to enter the national "211 Project" and "985 Project", as well as being among the first to be listed in Category A for the "World-class University" construction. The university is now affiliated with the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology. Mao Zedong inscribed the name of the university, and veteran proletarian revolutionaries such as Li Fuchun, Xu Teli, and Li Qiang have successively served as the main leaders of the school. Over the past 80 years, Beijing Institute of Technology has always listened to the Party and followed the Party, adhering to cultivating talents for the Party and the country. The university has embarked on a "red education road" of higher education with Chinese characteristics founded and led by the Communist Party of China - a road based on the traditional advantages of national defense and serving the national strategy, known as the "strengthening the military and serving the country path"; and an open, inclusive, integrated, and collaborative road of innovation and development.
